Career Development Information
This program involves all students 9th
through 12th grade. The implementation of the South
Carolina Education and Economic Act (EEDA) ensures that all
students’ grades 6 through 12 complete assessments, which become
part of their Career Development Folder. The folder includes
student’s academic plans, interests, goals, and aspirations for the
future.
Freshman - Students enter the high
school with an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). This plan was
developed in the spring of their 8th grade year and
includes a school of study, which will help shape the direction of
the student’s upcoming high school years.
Sophomores - Students will participate
in an ACT test/career assessment called PLAN. This test
will be administered on October 1, 2009. Results are used
to guide students as they declare their college major during their
annual IGP review.
All Freshman and Sophomores students and
parents will meet with High School Guidance Counselors and Career
Specialists to review their IGP’s and develop their high school
schedule for the upcoming year. This review empowers both students
and their parents as they map their plans for beyond high school.
Juniors and Seniors – Students can
participate in the following opportunities:
- CSRA College Night (September 10, 2009)
- Job shadowing
- Colleges Searches
- Declare majors
- Part Time Job Search
- Resume Workshops
- Interviewing Skills
