NJROTC
JROTC 1 CP JROTC 2 CP
Unit: 1 Pre-requisite: Physically capable of participating in the school’s physical education program. (Exceptions can be made for special education/resource students.)  Completion of a sports physical opens more opportunities for NJROTC students. Unit: 1 Pre-requisite: Completion of Junior ROTC 1 and Senior Naval Science Instructor’s recommendation.

Junior ROTC 1 emphasizes: introduction and orientation to NJROTC; personal behavior; military customs, courtesies, and drill; physical fitness. Additional topics include first aid, orienteering (land navigation and map reading), and the fundamentals of leadership. This course meets the graduation requirement for one physical education credit. Completion of NJROTC 1 qualifies the student for voluntary attendance at summer camps associated with JROTC programs. Enrolled students may participate in the varsity Color Guard, drill, or rifle teams.

Junior ROTC 2 emphasizes leadership and citizenship. Additional topics: include Naval History; Navy shipboard organization; meteorology, weather, and oceanography; navigation and rules of the nautical road; seamanship; and survival training. Completion of NJROTC 2 qualifies the student for voluntary attendance at the summer Leadership Academy associated with the NJROTC program. Enrolled students may participate in the varsity Color Guard, drill, or rifle teams.

Junior ROTC 3 emphasizes leadership and the influence of sea power on national security. Additional topics include: military justice; astronomy; International Law and the sea; Naval history; Naval operations, communications, and intelligence; challenges of the future; electricity and Naval electronics. Completion of NJROTC 3 qualifies the student for voluntary attendance at the Summer Leadership Academy associated with the NJROTC program. Enrolled students may participate in the varsity Color Guard, drill, or rifle teams.

Junior ROTC 4 emphasizes advanced leadership techniques; responsibilities and qualities of leadership; achieving effective communications; and ethics of a leader. Enrolled students may participate in the varsity Color Guard, drill, or rifle teams.
