| TOK is an interdisciplinary requirement intended to stimulate critical reflection on the knowledge and experience gained inside and outside the classroom. The course challenges students to question the bases of knowledge, to be aware of subjective and ideological biases and to develop the ability to analyze evidence that is expressed in rational argument. TOK is a key element in encouraging students to appreciate other cultural perspectives. The course is unique to the IBO, which recommends at least 100 hours of teaching time spanning the program’s two years | This semester course is designed to provide remediation for juniors and seniors who have not passed the HSAP Exit Exam in reading. This is a required course for those who qualify, and students receive one-half elective credit. This course is designed for juniors and seniors to learn to appreciate the value of effective speech, to improve their own speaking, and to listen to the speech of others with comprehension and critical judgment. The course will give the student an opportunity to learn how to organize and present all types of speeches. Research outside of class will be required in order to gather information. |
